Lleah Smith exists between Australia and India, and sustains an ongoing respect and fasincation for the Indian subcontinent.
Lleah Smith recieved an Honours Degree in Fine Arts and a Masters of Art Administration from the College of Fine Arts UNSW. Throughout her University career she was listed on the UNSW Dean’s List for Outstanding Academic Achievement in 2011 and 2012 and was the John Gage Colour Prize winner in 2013.
She is an artist and an educator and has exhibited widely nationally and internationally. She has also facilitated learning programs in Australia and abroad. Her writings have been published independently and also as a part of the UNSW online press, Biennale of Sydney Student Newspaper 2014, Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke Mumbai, Khoj Khabar 2015/16, The Wall and the Kaldor Public Art Projects Education Kit 2017.
Her practice bridges her experiences as an artist, educator and designer, supported by her ongoing interest in Indian history and aesthetics, in particular colour, pattern and ornamentation.
